"...the common eye sees only the outside of things, and judges by that, but the seeing eye pierces through and reads the heart and the soul, finding there capacities which the outside didn't indicate or promise, and which the other kind couldn't detect."----Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc
"One frequently only finds out how really beautiful a really beautiful woman is after considerable acquaintance with her; and the rule applies to Niagara Falls, to majestic mountains, and to mosques--especially to mosques."-----Mark Twain

The stock market events of this week are a titre of emotional intelligence.
Heard around town:
How you handle any potentially negative event depends upon many factors - your temperament, your risk tolerance and anxiety levels, your history, your current circumstances, your resources, your character ... and the level of your emotional intelligence.
With all important things, like this, your EQ can matter as much as, or more than, your IQ. Typically we read varying opinions, and get opposing "expert" advice. How do you make your way through the data, after you have done your homework? It is largely based on intuition (gut feeling), which is partly learned through experience. Intuition is an emotional intelligence competency and can be learned. (Contact me for coaching, or take The EQ Course(tm) - sdunn@susandunn.cc .
If this is the first market crash since you've owned stocks, it will feel a lot different to you.

Emotional Intelligence/Moral Compass

Blackbird Leadership's approach
Emotional intelligence, emotional intelligence, emotional intelligence!

Improving your emotional intelligence (knowing your feelings, how they work, how to manage them, to use them for the important information they provide, what to do about anger so you don't harm yourself or others or your relationships, how to develop intuition (your surest guide) ... these are just some of the concepts we cover.

Dr. McGowan and Dr. Marzluff believe that this ability gives crows and their brethren an evolutionary edge. “If you can learn who to avoid and who to seek out, that’s a lot easier than continually getting hurt,” Dr. Marzluff said. One of the emotional intelligence competencies is intuition or gut feeling. It is your surest guide to whom and what to trust. Take THE EQ COURSE and get the edge.
“I think it allows these animals to survive with us — and take advantage of us —
in a much safer, more effective way.”

"Dreams are astoundingly important. They keep nagging you because you're supposed to fulfill them. When you sense you're special, you're not neurotic or grandiose. Something inside you is calling to you and you have to listen. When you love to do something, that means you have a gift for it...And when you're gifted at something, you have to do it." - Barbara Sher

PASS IT FORWARD!

Some emotions are even what we would call "destructive". See the Dalai Llama's book on this. Did you know that 5 minutes of anger suppresses your immune system for up to 8 hours??"
So how on earth do you keep from getting angry? (without becoming a numb robot that is) Let me show you.
I love emotional intelligence. It's my passion. Let me share it with you! email me at sdunn@susandunn.cc and let's get to work!
