MEMORIAL DAY POEM
by John J. Alifano, Jr. (7th grade, age 12)

This is a sacred date
when we commemorate
our dear ones who are no more,
but are remembered as before.

On each Memorial Day
we keep from work and play
to pay homage instead
to our ever gallant dead.

Our brave soldiers who fought
for the freedom they brought
made our country so great
that no one will under-rate.

So let's give flowers and thanks
to our heros in all the ranks
who fought for justice and peace,
may our love for them never cease.

In the photo, John-John Kennedy salutes his father's casket as he is laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery on the morning of John-John's 3rd birthday.

AND NOW FOR THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG EVER WRITTEN:

Bach-Gounod's Ave Maria with Mario Lanza and Boys' Choir.
